Learning languages on the train

Reading the Financial Times this morning, there was a nice article about how France’s SNCF has started to offer English lessons to commuters on the train.

A similar thing is common in Sweden, even though the local train company there was not offering language lessons, but already 10-15 years ago commuters on the train in south of Sweden gathered together and studied a language, or did conversation lessons with each other, in the mornings on the train. This to me seemed already then like a dynamic decision.

Would this not be perfect to on other commuting trains in other countries, offering the same type of service? As it would also contribute to making people socialize, at least in those countries where people tend to have more difficulties to communicate with each other, like the Nordic countries for example.

What do you think about these language courses?
